Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao who recently visited Bangalore to request the Karnataka Minister for Water Resources MB Patil to release 3 tmc water for drinking water purposes reacted strongly against the Congress for diverting people's attention from irrigation projects, in the name of Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS).

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders who are fasting against the Rajolibanda diversion scheme (Kaleshwaram project), have different versions depending on the time and place. The Minister observed that Congress wants irrigation projects in Telangana while the same party is opposing the projects in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Terming the Congress Dharna for the RDS as unwarranted, Harish Rao questioned whether the leaders even held talks with Karnataka on the inter-state projects and added that politicising Rajolibanda diversion scheme was unfortunate. Stating that the charges made by Congress on the Medigadda project were false, he further asserted that the ruling TRS was working on the RDS according to plan.
