Mahabubabad (Warangal): Manukota Intellectuals Forum (MIF), which has been fighting for the cause of creation of Mahabubabad district, has intensified its efforts to achieve creation of the district, for which the government is said to be favourable. Involving several scholars, intellectuals, retired government employees and common public, the forum conducted a strategic survey.

MIF conducts feasibility survey

The forum proposed a 10-point formula, explaining feasibility for the creation of the district. The forum was launched on October 25, 2015 to press for the demand of ‘Dasharathi district’ with Mahabubabad as its headquarters, with Kairamkonda Santhosh Neta as its chairman and a homeopathic doctor, Parikipandla Ashok as the secretary.

“We have worked for nearly 20 days soliciting opinions from all sections of people in preparing the report in a comprehensive manner,” Ashok and Santhosh Neta told The Hans India. They submitted the report to District Collector V Karuna. The report has also been presented to Districts Reorganisation Committee members MG Gopal, SP Singh, BR Meena and Raymond Peter a couple of days ago.

In another couple of days, the forum leaders are planning to meet Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to present the survey report. The 10-point formula proposed by the MIF highlights historic, geographic, demographic, socio-economic, cultural, educational, employment, infrastructure, aesthetic and hydrological aspects pertaining to Mahabubabad division and its surroundings, said Ashok.

Mahabubabad division is one of the oldest revenue divisions in the State existing since the erstwhile Nizam era. ‘Dasharathi Brothers’ renowned revolutionary poets, who actively fought against Nizams and for Telangana liberation belongs to this place. The MIF found that nearly 250 villages and surrounding tribal hamlets are dependent on Mahabubabad for various needs like education, health, employment and commercial and transportation.

A floating population of nearly 25,000 persons visit Mahabubabad town every day, he explained. The place is well connected through railway and road network and has got water resources. There is an estimated 75 population belonging to tribal communities like Lambada and Koya.

Thus it would be a suitable place for setting up Tribal University to boost educational opportunities here, the forum leader said. Hence the State government should consider the demand of Mahabubabad people to create Dasharathi district with Mahabubabad urban-rural, Gudur, Kesamudram, Nekkonda, Kothaguda, Dornakal, Kuravi, Chennaraopet, Khanapur, Maripeda, Nellikudur, Thorrur, Narsimhulapeta, Bayyaram, Garla, Gundala-Yellandu, Singareni Parvatagir and Rayaparthi mandals as its part the forum leaders appealed.
