Hyderabad: The Congress and TDP, on Tuesday, came to the rescue of JAC Chairman Professor M Kodandaram who has been at the receiving end from the TRS Ministers for his controversial comments on the performance of the TRS government in the last two years.

  • Accuse TRS of being scared of JAC chairman
  • Hail the professor as ‘Telangana Gandhi’

Addressing the media at NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP ‘Working President’ A Revanth Reddy said that Kodandaram played a key role in strengthening the Telangana movement by uniting all forces under a single roof. Now, the ruling TRS has conspired to malign the image of Kodandaram for having been questioned on its failures, said Revanth Reddy.

“Kodandaram is fighting on behalf of the people in exactly the same way he fought for a separate Telangana. He has every right to question the TRS government,” said Revanth Reddy and wondered why the TRS Ministers were criticising the JAC leader without any concrete reasons. He demanded the Chief Minister to issue a ‘show -cause notice’ to all the Ministers who made wild allegations against Kodandaram.

The TDP leader threatened to launch a movement against the government if it failed to tender an apology to the JAC leader. Revanth dismissed the allegations of TRS leaders accusing Kodandaram of playing into the hands of Opposition Parties, and said the whole thing was part of a larger conspiracy by the Chief Minister to wipe off the JAC from the State.

Extending support to Kodandaram, Congress Deputy Floor Leader Jeevan Reddy termed the reactions of the Ministers to Kodandaram’s criticism as nothing but an act of frustration at being questioned. M Ranga Reddy, MLC, felt that the strong statements against Kodandaram were uncalled for and the Ministers should think twice before responding in such a fashion.

Ranga Reddy said that the formation of JAC with Kodandaram as its Chairman was a crucial development in the Statehood movement. “He just reflected the public opinion at the grass- roots level. Why is the ruling Party scared of him?” he questioned. TPCC working president, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka opined that KCR had exploited intellectuals like Kodandaram, who had now become an eyesore to him.

He wondered as to how the Ministers, who were nowhere seen in the Telangana struggle, were now critical of the TJAC chairman. Describing the TJAC chairman as ‘Telangana Gandhi’, TPCC general secretary Dasoju Sravan said that the souls of the martyrs must be grieving at the TRS comments on Kodandaram.
