Telangana has 98.7% non-vegetarians
In a recently released survey, Telangana ranked highest in the list of the number of non-vegetarians in the country. With 98.7 percent of people being non-vegetarians in Telangana topped the survey for the year 2014 conducted by the Registrar General of India.Â

West Bengal followed next with 98.55 percent, Odisha with 97.35 percent and Kerala with 97 percent as per the survey. The states with the maximum number of vegetarians include Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Gujarat, which has a significant number of vegetarians has also increased the consumption of non-vegetarian food to about 40 percent. The survey also revealed that the percentage of non-vegetarians have declined since 2004 when the survey was last conducted.
