Kamareddy (Nizamabad): Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday directed district collectors to fulfill the targets for Haritaharam programme by involving one and all.

Addressing the District Collectors from the state capital through video conference mode, the minister wanted the zilla parishad, mandal parishad and village panchayats to hold general body meetings and adopt resolution to plant saplings involving the Indira Kranti Patham members, employees, people of all sections of society, head masters, lecturers and students.

Huge rallies should be taken out at all levels to sensitise people on planting saplings. The saplings should planted in fields, farm and tank bunds, on either sides of panachayat roads and so on. Prior to the onset of rains, the pits should be dug for planting saplings. Tractors and bullock-carts should be kept ready for transporting the saplings. The matching and batching of plants should be done as per pucca plan.

District Collector Yogita Rana told the minister that 3.45 crore saplings are being raised in nurseries to plant 3.35 crore plants in the district. Elected people’s representatives like ZPTCs, MPTCs, Mandal Parishad presidents and sarpanches have been sensitised. As per the village-level plan of the plantation programme, on an average five or six plants will be planted in each house.
