Ramanna said the Centre was all praise for the Telangana government’s initiative in making use of information technology for conservation of forests in the State. The technology was also useful in preventing not only stopping degradation of forests but also forest fires etc., the Union Minister was told. Prakash Javadekar would be visiting Telangana to take part in the second phase of Haritha Haram soon.

The Centre also conceded the request of clearing the proposal of establishing an eco tourism park around the ring road in Hyderabad by directing the same to Chennai Zonal Office immediately, Ramanna said.

On the campaign of walkers of KBR Park in Hyderabad to stop cutting down of over 1,000 trees for the developmental works, the Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was very particular that no tree should be uprooted without paving way for planting more trees in the first place.

As far as the park issue was concerned, the Chief Minister had directed the officials to consult intellectuals and civil society members before making any move and hence one need to fear that the park would be denuded of trees in haste.
