OSCAR comes up with alternate plan for Army roads
Just a day before Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar’s visit to the city, Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR) which was fighting all along for the reopening of the roads in Golf Course area, EME centre and AOC circles came up with an alternate road plan. OSCAR wants flyovers to be constructed by the Local Military Authority (LMA).

OSCAR wants flyovers to be constructed by the Local Military Authority (LMA).
It may be noted that in November 2015, the State government and LMA had taken a decision that alternate roads would be developed from Safilguda to West Marredpally, so that the Gough Road could be closed.
S Chandrasekhar of OSCAR says, “While the decision on alternate roads is taken, all the closed roads and restrictions on several roads in Alwal, Bolaram and other areas should be lifted.”
Meanwhile, the State government still should decide on the compensation package to be given to LMA for the land that the Army is willing to handover for alternate roads. The file is with the Chief Minister and a decision to this effect is expected to coincide with the Defence Minister’s visit.
