Hyderabad: The famous Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu festival will be held for two days on July 24 and 25, according to Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Releasing a poster on traditional Bonalu at Secunderabad here, Talasani said elaborate arrangements were being made for the event.
Huge crowds from districts were expected to flock the temple to attend Bonalu for two days, he said. Yadav said from July 10, Bonalu festivities would kick-start at Golconda Ammavari Temple and culminate at the same place in the last week of July, he said.
He said the government was giving equal priority to all festivals, including Ramzan and Christmas and celebrating them at State-level. Under the stewardship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, major festivals were recognised as State events and conducted in a big way, he claimed.
“This time, Bonalu will be celebrated with total festival fervour and gusto. Prasadam and drinking water packets will be distributed to devotees” he said.
He asked the officials to ensure that no inconvenience was caused to devotees on the occasion. He also directed them to spruce up temples to suit the occasion with illumination, bright lights and barricades and also arrange special buses, generators, security, bandobust and traffic regulation. Yadav requested the media to extend cooperation for the smooth conduct of Bonalu festival.
