Experts and historians say the natural marvel surpasses Batholith Uluru in Australia which is recognised as the highest in the world

Hyderabad: In spite of Bhuvangiri (Bhongir) Batholith being the biggest and highest Batholith across the world, it is crying for recognition, courtesy to lack of awareness among people. Presently, a Batholith Uluru which is in Australia got recognition as the largest and also as the World Heritage site in 1987.

However, going by the parametres of both the Batholiths, the circumference of Uluru is 9.4 km whereas Bhuvanagiri has 9.63 kms, and in case of prominent elevation, Uluru has 1,142 feet and Bhuvanagiri has 1,410 feet. Although Bhuvanagiri Batholith is higher and longer than the Uluru Batholith, it could not get the deserving attention so far. D Satyanarayana, a historian who recently wrote and released a coffee table book on Bhuvanagiri Tourism, explained the depth of Batholith in Bhongir and how it is bigger and higher than Batholith Uluru.

Satyanarayana said due to lack of awareness on Bhuvanagiri, it did not get the due recognition. According to Satyanarayana, people believed that Bhuvanagiri fort was built by one Tribhuvanamalla Chalukya around 1100 AD and hence it was named after him as Bhuvanagiri. Satyanarayana said he had a new evidence to disprove the old version.

He further said he found a 3000 year old temple on Bhuvanagiri, constructed by people who lived in Megalithic Age. On a face of the three-stoned temple, he identified a group of bruising dots aligned in five lines in a spiral oval shape. The historian opined that the five-lined oval bruising represented the earth which was called ‘Bhuvana’ in Indian parlances. This is the reason why the Bhuvanagiri Hill which is in the oval or earth shape came to be known as Bhuvanagiri.

Satyanarayana said, “It is high time that we have to bring it to the limelight and someone has to take an initiative. So I started to do my bit,” he said. Osmania University Geology Department Professor J Ratnakar said proper importance was not given to the Bhongir Batholith as it was located on the roadside. “My Research scholars are now working on this project. I would be able to share more details once the research work is completed.”
