Hyderabad: Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Tuesday asked officials to develop the Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple and the surrounding areas on a par with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The Minister held a review meeting on the development of Vemulawada temple where officials made a power point presentation detailing about the temple plan stating that “A big plan is ready to transform Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple, also known as southern Kashi, into a famous devotional and pilgrim destination in Karimnagar district."

The Minister asked officials to develop the temple and nearby premises on a par with Lord Venkatweswara Temple at Tirumala. He directed them to take steps to ensure that the temple buildings and structures on the premises be made according to vasthu and Agama Shastra norms.

Besides providing the best facilities, the nearby Nampally village should also be developed into a tourism spot apart from conducting a study for examining a rope-way to Vemulawada temple.

“Ensure that devotees from across the country and foreign countries feel the touch of devotion and pleasant ambience with plantations and greenery," he said.

The Minister asked officials to meet Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for approval of the plan with some changes besides taking consent from Sringeri Peetham.

It is likely that KCR would make a visit to the Sringeri Peetham in this regard, he added. Vemulawada MLA Ch Ramesh, Advisor to Telangana government K V Ramana Chary, Endowments Commissioner Shivashankar and others were present during the meeting.
