Under the aegis of department of Ayush and Bharat Swabhiman Trust, a yoga camp was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Hanamkonda. GWMC Mayor N Narender, MP P Dayakar, MLA D Vinay Bhasker and others have attended the programme and performed yoga.
​Warangal: Educational institutions, government agencies and social organisations have organised mass yoga camps across the district on Tuesday, commemorating ‘International Yoga Day’.
Under the aegis of department of Ayush and Bharat Swabhiman Trust, a yoga camp was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Hanamkonda. GWMC Mayor N Narender, MP P Dayakar, MLA D Vinay Bhasker and others have attended the programme and performed yoga.
Addressing the gathering, they highlighted the importance of yoga in a persons’ life. Yoga practice rejuvenates both body and mind. If every individual practices it a healthy society could be built, they added.
Additional Joint Collector S Tirupathi Rao, ASP John Wesley, Anantalakshmi Ayurveda College Principal Dr Shyamala and others attended the programme.
NCC Air Wing Warangal unit organised a yoga camp at University Arts and Science College. Speaking on the occasion, the NCC commanding officer Arjun Vinoba said learning the benefits of yoga people across the world have been learning yoga and related activities.
Nearly 550 cadets participated in the camp. Associate NCC officer B Prabhaker, warrant officer Samantha, first officers Prasad omashekar, Manujender Reddy and others were present. Similarly, Madhava Smaraka Samithi has organised a yoga camp at
Vivekananda Yoga Kendra. An international yoga master from Pondicherry-based Srimatha Aravindashramam, Vaidya Indrasen trained the public attending the camp.
The Samithi president Dr P Vishwanath, vice-president P Srinivas Reddy, secretary A Bikshapathi, retired professor Adinarayana, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh leader Laxma Reddy, RSS pracharak D Ramanujam and others were present.
At Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science Warangal, a lecture programme on the importance of yoga was organised. The college physical education head of the department P Ravi Kumar explained the benefits of practicing yoga.
Two students from B Srilatha and J Shilpa performed various asanas. The college director Y Manohar, faculty members P Ramesh Reddy, M Srinivas Reddy, M Narsihma rao, D Prabhakara Chary teaching and non teaching staff were present.
KU Arts and Science College, Pingili Degree College for Women, Vaagdevi Engineering College and Yoga Spiritual Development Society have organised yoga camps while Dy. director I&PR DS Jagan released a book ‘Yoga for Beginners’ published by Vikram Publishers.
