Nalgonda: Demanding roll back of price hikd of power and RTC charges, protests, rallies, road blockades and burning of effigies by Opposition parties took place in the district on Saturday. Following the call of TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Congress leaders and cadre organised protests across the district and raised slogans against the government for burdening the common men, who were already under heavy financial burden due to severe drought.

In Nakrekal constituency, Congress workers staged a protest at Narketpally under the leader ship of former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah whereas in Kodad local MLA Padmavathi led the dharn.

They burnt the effigy of the government. In Yadadri mandal, Congress workers staged a sit-on dharna at the entrance of Vaikuntam queue line of Lord Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple. Devotees were suffered and the temple authorities informed the police, who shifted the protesters to police station.

On the other hand, TDP workers burnt the effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in Nalgonda under the leadership of party district president Bilya Nayak and general secretary Madagoni Srinivas Goud.

Speaking to media they demanded the government to roll back the
decision to hike bus fares and electricity charges. Later, they submitted a representation to the officials at the Collectrate.
