New Delhi: Telangana Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy has sought Centre’s help in training the staff of Telangana Oversees Manpower Company (TOMCOM) established to help Telangana youth find jobs abroad.

Speaking after attending a meeting on overseas Indians affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs here on Tuesday, Reddy said he explained in detail the measures put in place by the Telangana government to safeguard the interests of people migrating to Gulf.

There was a huge problem with the brokers and middlemen in this regard and the Telangana government had created the manpower company to guide the emigrants properly.

If the Centre extended skilled training to the people manning the Company, it would go a long way in mitigating the troubles of helpless Gulf victims.

Nayani Narasimha Reddy urged the Centre to allow Telangana State government too to select nurses to be sent for oversees employment. At present, only Kerala and Tamil Nadu were being allowed to do so with the Centre’s permission and a similar facility for Telangana would help the State government in helping the nurses secure better employment opportunities abroad, he said.
