The government installed LED lights all over the city and taken enough steps to improve the efficiency. “In fact, Andhra Pradesh has always shown leadership in implementing most of the initiatives launched by the Union government,” Pandey said. The day-long meeting discussed the experiences and best practices among BRICS countries.

The BRICS group comprises developing countries where the energy demand is expected to be large when compared to the developed countries. Keeping this energy demand scenario of BRICS nations in view, the countries have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency.

The MOU intends to pursue their energy cooperation through joint research and technology projects, technology transfer, conferences, lectures and seminars. It also includes specific common projects, applicable methods and instruments of energy saving promotion and energy efficiency increase in the BRICS economies.

The working group meeting will conclude on Tuesday.
