KT Rama Rao who is already spearheading many departments in Telangana government including plum Information Technology (IT), Industries & Commerce, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), will soon take up additional responsibility as he is set to become the first foreign minister of the state.

Top officials stated that Telangana is set to have its own external affairs ministry to oversee NRI affairs and the state's relationship with various countries, hence, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to make his son, KTR, the first foreign minister of the state.

Sources reveal that the state government is planning to formulate its own NRI policy, to establish a separate ministry for promoting Telangana amongst the rest of the world. While the draft NRI policy has been prepared, the discussions on it will take place on July 16th.

KTR too announced the plans recently during a meeting with a group of new recruits to Gulf countries where he revealed the government's plans to implement a new NRI policy and that it would be finalized on July 16.

Telangana's foreign ministry will also be responsible for marketing the state as one of the best destinations for foreign investors.
