Hyderabad: Three new cholera cases were reported in the city on Tuesday, taking the number of cases to 10 during this month. Three nurses from Fernandez hospital in the city complained of severe vomiting and rice stools.

Preliminary investigations said that consuming cranberry juice from a juice centre at Abids could be the reason. The District Medical and Health Officer collected water and food samples from the hostel where they were staying.

Also their diet history showed taking food at street joints and packed or tinned foods which is suspected to be the reason for contamination.

The rise in the number of cholera cases is being attributed to consuming contaminated water and juice from bottles and cans. Medical experts said that the number could be even more as some patients could have gone to private hospitals.
