​Warangal: Patronage to the second phase of the Haritha Haram programme envisaging plantation of a whopping 46 crore saplings to improve greenery in the State is getting bigger by each passing day.
Joining the bandwagon to contribute their mite for the betterment of society, the staff of The Hans India and the HMTV Warangal unit has organised Haritha Haram programme at the SDLCE on Kakatiya University campus on Friday.
Taking time from his hectic schedule, Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu participated in the drive. He expressed concern over decreasing forest cover in the region which came down to 24 per cent from 33 per cent. Stating that plantation drive is in full swing in the police adopted village Pembarthy under Hasanparthy mandal, he said that they had planned to plant five lakh saplings across the Warangal Police Commissionerate in this phase of the programme.
Expressing his love for fruit-bearing trees, Warangal West legislator Vinay Bhaskar quipped that he would be back soon to relish the fruits of the guava sapling he planted. He said that people are taking the plantation drive in a mission mode and would help the State to turn into Haritha Telangana.
The programme was organized by HMTV Staff Reporter Balu, The Hans India Special Correspondent Adepu Mahender, Hans Lensman G Shyam Kumar, Manda Salmon and V Ajay organised the programme.
