Hyderabad: Alleging large-scale irregularities in the Singareni Collieries in Kothagudem of Khammam district, Congress deputy leader in the Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to order an inquiry and cancel the present tenders and call for a fresh global tenders and accord the PVK-5 incline Mining to an experienced and eligible company.

In a letter to the Chief Minister on Monday, Sudhakar Reddy stated that in the recent past, the SCCL management called for tenders for extracting 40.50 MT of coal from PVK-5 incline mine worth Rs 500 crore. In this connection, the authorities concerned violated norms and favored the PVK-5 tender to Joy Company of Australia.

He also alleged that in the actual-e-Tender process, the eligibility for getting the tender was that the company must be in a position to use machinery in the incline mines at least for three years. The authorities opted only for Joy Company of Australia and the company was mining coal for the last 15 years.

The Congress leader has stated several objections and doubts have arisen in the tender process as the Caterpillar and Soundvick companies have vast experience in supplying machinery all over the world and the Tender Bid process was closed on July 18. To save public money, machinery may be purchased by Singareni Collieries Ltd and supply to the contractor to do the work, he stated.
