As many as 50, 000 devotees have thronged Bhadrakali Temple to have the darshan of Shakambari Matha. Serpentine queues were witnessed at the temple since morning hours and the devotees had to wait at least four hours to have darshan of the presiding deity.

​Warangal: The 15-day long ‘Shakambari Utsavam’ at the historic Bhadrakali Temple concluded on Tuesday, on which Guru Poornima was also celebrated.

As many as 50, 000 devotees have thronged Bhadrakali Temple to have the darshan of Shakambari Matha. Serpentine queues were witnessed at the temple since morning hours and the devotees had to wait at least four hours to have darshan of the presiding deity.

The deity was decorated with about two tonnes of vegetables and 70 types of fruits procured from Warangal, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai for the celebration.

The decoration, which commenced at 3 am continued till 10 am. The devotees were allowed to have darshan of the deity after offering special prayers by the temple chief priest B Sheshagiri Rao. The priest explained the significance of the festival.

Worshipping the deity in the form of Shakambari would ensure abundant supply of food and health to the devotees.
The festival, which was once limited to Bhadrakali Temple, was now being celebrated at Vijayawada Kanakadurga Temple, Srisailam Bhramaramba Temple and others, the priest said.

The temple Executive Officer K Anjani Devi thanked the police, municipal and electricity department officials for their cooperation in successful conduct of the festival. The event by and large was a smooth affair as the temple authorities taken all precautionary measures to manage the crowds.

Bhadrakali Seva Samithi president A Gopinath, Mahabubabad Sri Venkateshwara Seva Samithi, a contractor Maduva Seshagiria Rao, industrialist T Ganesh and others have lent their support for the conduct of the festival.Deputy CM K Srihari, Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker and others have visited the temple to offer prayers on the day.
