Hyderabad: The State government on Tuesday released the tariff card for prepaid maxi cabs operating from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad here.

The government issued GO 66 fixing the tariff for the prepaid taxis. The rates have been finalised based on the report of a team of three motor vehicle inspectors (MVIs), who were assigned the task of studying fares in the area in vehicles with seating capacity of 8 to 10 passengers in Rangareddy district.

The Hyderabad Airport Prepaid Taxi Owners Drivers Association (HAPTODA) had requested the Transport Commissioner to fix separate fares for maxi cab services operating at the RGIA.

The Rangareddy district Deputy Transport Commissioner submitted a report informing that a team of three MVIs have examined and enquired the rates prevailing in the market for hiring of maxi cabs from various travel owners and passengers at the RGIA and also the rates prevailing at Chennai International Airport.

The base fare would be Rs 140 for first five kilometres. The Association had demanded a fare of Rs 224. Similarly, the Association had demanded a fare of Rs 4,060 for 95 to 100 km while the government fixed it at Rs 3,000.

The prescribed conditions include - the vehicle should not be more than eight years old from the date of its original registration and must be in white colour, the vehicle should be of more than 1,000cc capacity, the vehicle should always be kept at the disposal of traffic police at the airport after the trip is over.

No personal pickup is allowed at any cost and the fare fixed is irrespective of the time of booking and for the round trip, the luggage charges should be collected at the rate of Rs 20 for each large and medium size piece, exempting small hand baggage.

No fare other than specified on the receipt can be demanded by the driver, the driver should obtain the signature of the passenger on the fare receipt after dropping the party, and produce the same at the prepaid counter.

All the taxi drivers should wear white uniform with their name card displayed. They should behave well and should be helpful to the passengers.

They should know English in addition to mother tongue, and all Maxi cabs should display license/permits with the details and photographs of the driver on the left hand corner dash board prominently.
