Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials removed banners, flexis, posters and other advertising material of private educational institutions, computer and coaching centres at Maithrivanam Junction in Ameerpet on Friday as per the directive of Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao.

Central Zone Commissioner Gaurav Uppal and 10A Circle Deputy Commissioner Sudhansh oversaw the removal of banners, flexis and posters. Gaurav Uppal, who convened a meeting with the managements of private educational institutions, computer and coaching centres on Saturday, urged them not to spoil the look of the city by re-erecting the banners and flexis.

Cases were registered against the managements of three educational institutions for re-erecting banners and flexis even after receiving notices from the GHMC earlier, he said.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin also visited Maithrivanam to oversee the removal of banners and flexis. According to the civic body authorities, 95 per cent of flexis and banners and unauthorised hoardings at public places in the GHMC limits were already removed as part of government’s initiative to develop Hyderabad as an international city.
