In a matter of just 60 seconds, Mahadevapur police planted 22,600 saplings around the mandal headquarters at 11 am on Saturday creating a new record of their own. A similar attempt was previously made by the Kataram police who sowed 6,000 seedlings in a minute on July 13, but the Mahadevapur police surpassed the feat.

Warangal Range DIG T Prabhakar Rao threw a caution for those who destroy saplings planted under the second phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram, stating that cases would be booked against them.

The record was achieved with the help of locals, students, public representatives and auto-rickshaw drivers leading up to nearly 12,000 people in the town turning up for the programme. Ahead of the programme, a publicity campaign was run for a week where plantation locations were identified and seedlings were sown on banks of tanks and either side of roads in town.
