Hyderabad: To mark the completion of 100 years of establishment of the famous Osmania University, the State government has decided to conduct the centenary celebrations on a grand scale in 2017.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday held a review meeting on the arrangements being made for the celebrations with the officials and people’s representatives.

He instructed the Education Department to come out with a comprehensive report and plan of action for the conduct of the celebrations, including NRI summit involving famous personalities who studied in the University.

An Advisory Council headed by Congress MP K Keshav Rao has been appointed to make arrangements for the celebrations. All the famous personalities like educationists, scientists, civic servants, sports personalities and journalists passed out from the university would be facilitated, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to prepare a roadmap for strengthening the education system in the university following increasing competition from the rival institutions.

KCR warned of stringent action against persons who indulged in illegal activities like paper leakage and the sale of fake certificates.

He directed the officials to plug the loopholes and ensure that the educational standards were maintained at every level.Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and DGP Anurag Sharma and others were present in the meeting.
