Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, accompanied by his spouse, visited Ujjain Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on Sunday and performed puja there.

Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, his spouse, Ministers Padmarao and Talasani Srinivasa Yadav accompanied the Chief Minister to the temple.

Earlier in the day, Srinivasa Yadav offered the first bonam to the Goddess Mahankali in the wee hours of Sunday and also silk clothes to the deity.

Prominent among those who visited the temple on Sunday were, Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, BJP state unit president Dr K Lakshman and BJP legislator Kishan Reddy and Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy.

The endowments department, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and other agencies made elaborate arrangements to rule out any inconvenience to thronging public.

Srinivas Yadav, city Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy and GHMC Commissioner Janardhana Reddy and others supervised the arrangements.

Various cultural programmes highlighting the importance of the Bonalu festival were presented under the joint aegis of the Telangana Cultural Council and Rasamyi Samskrutika Saradhi at various places in the vicinity of the temple in Secunderabad.
