Hyderabad: Students across the State were literally on tenterhooks as the news was flashed across social media, TV channels and websites that the Telangana Crime Investigation Department had clearly indicated that Eamcet-2 paper was leaked and 29 students got undue benefit by accessing the papers.

Late in the evening, parents met Health Minister C Laxma Reddy and requested him not to cancel the exam as students worked hard for a year.

The Minister however said that a final decision would be taken based on CID report, which was expected to be given to the government on Thursday.

Madhavi K S, a student and resident of West Marredpally broke down into tears and questioned why lakhs of students should suffer for the misdoings of a few.

Ravi Kiran, a lecturer with one of the corporate colleges said, “This is going to have a major impact on the students.

The repercussions could be devastating as students have put their heart and soul in preparing for the exam and now are not in a state to give it one more go.”

“Why should meritorious students suffer for the inadequacies of the government? Each parent spends lakhs of rupees to train his ward.

Also, the agony that students go through cannot be quantified,” said N B V R Murthy, a parent. A student, Abhinav, said that students who secured ranks in the range of thousands in AP entrance were able to get good rank in TS Eamcet.

He said that instead of cancelling the exam it would be better to delete the names of those caught in the scam and others be placed further up in the ranking.

He said that he had even sold off books and wondered what to do if a re-examination was held.
