Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao warned those, who support the deeds that lead to the depletion of forests in the State.

Speaking to the media persons here on Wednesday, he found fault with some political parties, accusing them of encouraging the encroachment of forests for vested interests.

Referring to the target of planting 3.5 crore saplings in the ongoing Haritha Haram programme, he said that so far they have achieved plantation of 2.30 crore saplings.

The remaining target will be completed in about a week, he said. He said that the government is also giving a lot of emphasis on the protection of saplings.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P Raghuveer said that a team of officials of the Earth Day Network, Washington DC, will soon visit the State to take note of the ongoing Haritha Haram programme.
