Hyderabad: The GHMC on Thursday raided 24 mutton shops in West Zone and realised a penal amount of Rs 10,350 from six shop owners for running their business without a licence.

The veterinary wing of the GHMC, which conducted raids on 24 shops, found that about one fourth of the shops were selling meat without any proper licence or official endorsement from the Corporation.

Besides this, it was also found that most of the shops failed to maintain hygiene. “We have penalised these traders for violating norms and registered cases under the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955,” said Chief Veterinary Officer P Venkateshwar Reddy.
