Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam Party (T-TDP) Working President A Revanth Reddy made a stunning allegation on Thursday that the family of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was involved in the EAMCET-2 paper leak scam.

Addressing the media, Revanth Reddy demanded a CBI inquiry into the scam, while claiming that there was proof of the involvement of KCR's family and top leaders of the government. He alleged that the CM and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari did not bother to act despite complaints being lodged.

  • Says State government is the main accused in the scam

He demanded the dismissal of Srihari for denying the scam and that of State Higher Education Council Chairman Papi Reddy for entrusting the EAMCET-2 work to a private firm without calling for tenders. He also wanted an inquiry to be conducted against Health Minister Dr Laxma Reddy for his negligent attitude during the leak.

“The State government is the main accused in the scam,” contended the TDP leader. “The fact that Srihari and Papi Reddy did not react is a proof of involvement of KCR's family in the scam,” said Revanth. He wanted KCR himself to write to the Prime Minister seeking a CBI inquiry into the matter.

“If this is not done, then it is to be presumed that KCR's family is involved in the episode which has links to other States also,” opined the TDP leader. He claimed that the government was trying to project the scam as small one by projecting some brokers, persons connected with the printing press, students and their parents as the accused.

He alleged that against the normal transparent practice of calling for tenders for the work of printing the EAMCET exam paper sheets, one single firm was entrusted with the works in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Reddy questioned the motive behind entrusting the tender to a private firm instead of giving the responsibility to the ‘Centre for Good Governance’. The firm, he claimed, was disqualified by the SSC and InterBoards. “This firm should have been blacklisted as it was responsible for thousands of students not taking the examination in 2015. But some people in the government prevented action being taken against it,” he added.

The TDP legislator recalled that reputed organisations like Tata Consultancy Services had objected to the government entrusting the tender to a private firm, citing it as improper, and that written complaints were submitted to Papi Reddy, the CM and the Education Minister. Those who complained, he claimed, were threatened as the work was entrusted at the instance of KCR's family.

While claiming the involvement of several top people in awarding the tender to the private firm, Revanth wanted the government to explain the modus operandi of the JNTU-H officials in giving the tender to the firm.

He observed that the announcement by officials that the biometric system did not function in the case of 2,500 students during the exam could not be treated as a technical mistake. The TDP leader wondered as to why no alternatives were considered for changing the OMR sheets when the biometric system failed.

He said the party would continue its fight till the top guns involved were exposed.
