​Khammam: Teachers, under the banner of Telangana State Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee (TSPSC), staged a Maha Dharna near the Collectorate here on Thursday to press their charter of demands.

The members belonging to 11 teachers associations have been demanding the State government to upgrade the posts of physical education, Telugu and Hindi teachers as school assistants.

Starting the dharna, the TSUTF State vice-president Ch Durga Bhavani criticised the government for not even resolving a single problem faced by the teachers.

“Though it’s been more than two years since the Telangana State came into existence, the government which claims the State as the rich, has not shown any concern towards the issues of the teachers, she said.

TPTF state general secretary Manohar Raju said that though the TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao repeatedly said that there would not be any dharnas and protests if Telangana is achieved.

But it was not to be. Problems remained unsolved in all departments of the government, he added.

STF State general secretary Devarakonda Saidulu accused the government of being evasive in resolving the issues in education department. He alleged that government was trying to privatise the education system in the state.

He threatened to intensify their movement if the government fails to address their justifiable demands.
