Warangal: Telangana BJP president K Laxman has said, “The TRS government has to ensure that the benefits of Central welfare schemes and development funds reach the masses.”

Addressing the party workers in Hanamkonda on Saturday, he said the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was making special efforts towards the development of Telangana by allocating fund worth thousands of crore rupees. “Yet such funds are not reaching the targeted sections,” he noted.

BJP State president Laxman complained that Central funds were being diverted to other programmes by the State government. Party’s national president Amit Shah has also made a similar observation during his recent visit to the State, he added.

Referring to Modi’s maiden visit to Telangana on August 7 to launch various development works, Laxman said the visit could boost progress of the State in a big way.

The revival of fertiliser plant at Ramagundam, closed in 1999, would be the biggest contribution by the BJP towards development and employment generation in Telangana.

The plant once operational provides direct employment to about 5,000 persons, besides offering livelihood to thousands indirectly, he stated, adding that plan to set up allied industries at FCI Ramagundam was also on cards.

He further said that celebration of Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 to officially offer homage to the martyrs would be highlighted during the public meeting to be addressed by Modi during his visit.

Laxman who addressed a gathering of the party’s booth committees’ members asked them to work towards strengthening the party at grassroots level with a ‘Mission 2019’ which envisages bringing the BJP to power in 2019.

The party workers should make door-to-door visits and explain people about the Central government welfare measures that were being implemented.

At the same time an extensive campaign on the failures of the TRS government should also be taken out, Laxman said.

Referring to the ongoing protests over Mallannasagar project, issue of EAMCET-2 paper leak and cancellation of VC appointments by the court, the BJP leader wondered whether Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had any hold on the government.
