​New Delhi: Telangana Tourism Department bagged three national awards - Best Standalone Convention Centre, Best Tourism Promotion Publicity Material for "Ancient Temples of Telangana (Coffee Table Book) and Best Heritage City (for Warangal) - here on Saturday.
Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism and Culture, B Venkatesham and Varun Arora, CEO of HICC received the award for Best Standalone Convention Centre from the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma and Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan at a function here on Saturday.
Managing Director of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Christina Z Chongthu received the other awards along with Venkatesham. Later speaking to the media, Venkatesham said efforts were on to promote the vast tourism potential of Telangana in a systematic way.
The department was seeking to coordinate its efforts with other departments to streamline the facilities. He hoped that the sector would grow immensely in future under the guidance of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
