Khammam: CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy accused the State government of being insensitive towards the problems faced by the people.

Reddy, who visited several villages under Manuguru and Pinapaka mandals on Monday, criticised the government for unleashing repressive measures against the Podu cultivators.

“The government should effectively implement the Forest Rights Act and safeguard the rights of tribal people over Podu land under their possession for a long,” Reddy demanded, criticising the rulers for resorting to coercive measures against the Adivasis.

The TRS, which made umpteen numbers of promises before the elections, is trying to hoodwink the people, he alleged. He questioned the government its rationale behind evicting the tribal people from their natural habitats in the name of Haritha Haram.

“The TRS is government is no different as it was following the same path of its predecessors - Congress and Telugu Desam,” Reddy said, stating that people will teach the rulers a fitting lesson soon.

He demanded the government taking stringent action against those involved in EAMCET paper leak. He revealed that CPI has planned to organise a public meeting on August 5 to discuss the issues faced by the Podu cultivators.
