Warangal: The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) would operate eight special package tours for the convenience of devotees attending Krishna Pushkaralu, Corporation Chairman Pervaram Ramulu said here on Sunday.

Speaking to presspersons at Hanamkonda, Ramulu said the special packages with affordable prices were exclusively designed to cater to the needs of tourists and pilgrims intending to take part in the Pushkaralu from August 12 to 23.

The tour packages operated using Volvo, AC Hitech and non-AC Hitech coaches would serve the pilgrims from Hyderabad, Warangal, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad to perform pushkar baths at Beechpalli, Alampur, Somasila, Nagarjuna Sagar and Vijayawada.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would arrive at Alampur in Mahbubnagar district on August 11 and perform prayers on August 12 at Jogulamba temple, which is one among the 18 ‘Shakti Peethams’ in the country, formally launching the Pushkaralu.

To mark the occasion, the TSTDC was commissioning a twin deck cruise boat at Nagarjuna Sagar on August 3. The boat, costing Rs 1.7 crore, with a total seating capacity of 100, consists of a lower deck with 40 seats and an AC restaurant while the upper deck has 60 seats.

Three floating jetties had been constructed for the purpose of operating the cruise boat. The cruise would be operated from Pushkar Ghat to Nagarjunakonda Museum at Nagarjuna Sagar where food courts were also being set up.

Similarly, works related to heritage tourism development at Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple at Beechpally with Central assistance of Rs 60.74 lakh were underway.

The sacred confluence of Rivers Krishna and Thungabhadra takes place at Beechpally located on the banks of River Krishna and hence it holds a spiritual significance, Ramulu explained.

All arrangements for the pushkaralu were nearing completion, he added.

TSTDC district manager K Nathanu, Deputy Executive Engineer L Samuel, Assistant Executive Engineer N Ramakrishna and Hotel Haritha Kakatiya in-charge J Suresh were present.
