Warangal: Tension prevailed as the activists of Madiga Student Federation (MSF) tried to barge into the district Collectorate premises in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.

The MSF activists have staged dharna at the Collectorate expressing solidarity to the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi president Manda Krishna Madiga who was on a ‘Deeksha’ in New Delhi. During the protest, some of the activists have tried to climb over the Collectorate gate.

However, the police prevented the activists from entering into the Collectorate. The activists staged a sit-in dharna and raised slogans in front of the Collectorate. Later, the cops dispersed them.

Speaking to the media, MSF leader Manda Bhasker wanted the State and Central governments to initiate immediate measures to categorise the Scheduled Castes (SCs).

The States of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have categorised the SCs and same should be done in Telangana and AP, he said.

The political parties which were coming to power using the votes of Madiga community have been neglecting their long-pending demand of categorisation for the benefit of the community members.

If necessary steps towards the SC categorisation were not taken, the MSF activists would lay siege to the Parliament, he cautioned.
