Vijayawada: YSRCP Krishna district in-charge and senior leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy condemned the removal of the statue of Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at police control room junction three days ago by the district administration.

Ramachandra Reddy along with other party leaders visited the police control room junction on Monday and inspected the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandra Reddy said YSR had never removed the statue of any leader during his rule. He suspected a conspiracy behind the removal of YSR statue.

He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu did not want pilgrims visiting Vijayawada for Krishna Pushkaralu to see the statue of YSR located in a prominent place.

He said the people would teach a lesson to the Chief Minister for his wrong doings. Referring to Tuesday’s bandh on Special Category Status, he said Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has launched agitation demanding Special Category Status for State.

He criticised the Telugu Desam government for not tolerating people’s protests. YSRCP leaders K Parthasarathy, P Gowtham Reddy, B Punyaseela, Shaik Asif and others present on the occasion.

Earlier, the YSRCP leaders discussed about the bandh to be observed on Tuesday.

They alleged that the NDA government is cheating the people of AP by not according Special Category Status for State, despite the BJP leaders promising the same during the bifurcation of the State.
