Hyderabad: In a world of consumerism, where customers are considered gods, marketing companies are going to any extent to get them pleased by offering discounts, freebies, free services and what not. But taking the trend to a new height is a real estate company that thought gifting a high-productive Dutch cow to its buyer would be apt at a time where cows are holier than anything else.

While the whole nation is going gaga over cows and their divine status, a real estate venture has come up with an irresistible offer of a high-yielding Holstein Friesians (HF - crossbred) cow worth Rs 70,000 as gift to its customers who buy a 400 square yards plot for Rs 3.5 lakh in the most popular pilgrim centre in Telangana, Yadagirigutta, barely 65 kilometres away from the State capital.

And if you are not in a position to take care of the cow, don’t worry. The real estate firm has its subsidiaries to do the job for you. They will take the cow back on lease for a period of seven years for a monthly rent of Rs 3,000 and even after that if you are still baffled as to how to take care of the mammal, the company is more than willing to buy the animal.

“We will transfer the rent amount to the customer online. After 84 months, we will buy the cow for Rs 50,000, for which we give an undertaking on Rs 100 stamp paper at the time of signing the lease agreement,” said S Ramakrishna, one of the directors of the company. Ramakrishna has his own plausible explanation for this marketing initiative. “More and more people are longing to have their own cows.

But the sad part is, they cannot often keep and maintain the animal in their backyards. Having a cow and getting income from it is the additional benefit they get from us,” he said. And needless to say, owning a cow is not only a source of blessing for the devout, it is also lucrative. An HF cow can produce 20-25 litres of milk a day that will swell one’s wallet a tad better.

According to Ramakrishna, his company earns Rs 15,000 a month from each cow. “We also insure every cow at its own cost, in the name of the owner. In the case of any adversity, the owner will get the insured amount directly from the nationalised insurance company,” he said.

The project which has now 500 plots for sale has an equal number of cows to be gifted to all its customers. The insurance tag on its left ear will stand as permanent identification for each cow. And that is not all. The real estate firm has further plans to make the best use of cow urine. “We are also looking at setting up cow urine processing unit and by-products manufacturing in the next phase,” Ramakrishna said.
