Harish for speedy relief
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday directed his department officials to expedite the payment of compensation to those to be displaced by the Mallannasagar project.
Siddipet: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday directed his department officials to expedite the payment of compensation to those to be displaced by the Mallannasagar project.
At a meeting in the Siddipet Revenue Divisional office attended by Joint Collector Venkatrami Reddy, Irrigation CE, RDO Muthyam Reddy and officials of various mandals, he reviewed the land acquisition process for the project and the payments made to the displaced persons, an official release stated.
Rao said that of the 15,746 acres to be acquired, 6,888 acres have so far been registered. Of the remaining 9,000 acres, farmers of already agreed to accept money. He said forms 1 and 2 would be distributed to a large number of farmers on Wednesday, while asking the officials to expedite the land registrations.
The minister wanted a sub-registrar's office to be opened in every village so as not to cause inconvenience to people.
The Joint Collector suggested that a tahsildar be specially appointed for speeding up the land acquisition process in Yerravalli, Singaram, Vemulaghat and Pallepahad villages.
Among those present were Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Kaleswaram EE Anand, RWS officials and tahsildars.
