GHMC to modernise Hyderabad bus bays

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is contemplating to construct 300 modernised bus-bays in the city with highly sophisticated facilities. The bus-bays would have facilities like free WiFi, modern public toilets, ‘any time water’ kiosks, FM radio, comfortable seating and proper illumination besides a provision for allowing electronic streaming of bus timings and routes.
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is contemplating to construct 300 modernised bus-bays in the city with highly sophisticated facilities. The bus-bays would have facilities like free WiFi, modern public toilets, ‘any time water’ kiosks, FM radio, comfortable seating and proper illumination besides a provision for allowing electronic streaming of bus timings and routes.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K Taraka Rama Rao during the last week held a meeting with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and GHMC officials and asked the team to improve civic infrastructure in the shortest possible time to make Hyderabad a global city.
He also sought the officials’ to give short and long-term recommendations to modernise bus-bays in the city. The team, after their New Delhi tour to study about bus-bays, has proposed the government to take up the bus-bays modernisation in 300 locations across the city.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior GHMC official said that the corporation, on a pilot basis, would construct 300 modernised bus-bays across the city. He said that the team comprising of ASCI and GHMC officials have been chalking out plans to improve the condition of existing bus-bays.
He said that the construction of 300 modernised bus-bays would be completed in six months and in less than one year all the remaining bus stops would be modernised.
