The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Hyderabad Chapter celebrated its ninth ‘National Public Relations Education Day’ recently. The theme for the day was “Indian Public Relations Education in Retrospect” and eminent guests spoke on the same. This included Prof. Ghanta Charkrapani, Chairman, Telangana State Public Service Commission, Prof. SV Rajasekhar Reddy, Director (Academic) Dr BR Ambedkar Open University, Dr CV Narasimha Reddi, Advisor, Dept. of Public Relations, Dr BR Ambedkar Open University and Editor, Public Relations Voice, Magazine.

Y Babji, National Vice-President (South) read out the message received from Dr Ajit Pathak, National President, PRSI. Later, the PRSI, Hyderabad Chapter felicitated Prof. Balaswamy as ‘Best Public Relations Teacher’ and FR Michael was awarded as ‘Best Public Relations Academic Counsellor’ and J Bhunjanga Rao bagged the ‘Best Media Relations Award’. G Aneeja, Secretary, PRSI, Hyderabad Chapter highlighted each awardees contribution in their respective fields.

Prof Ghanta Chakrapani said that PR, in these days, has become one of most important factors for any organisation. “PR professionals need to be more dynamic with energy, dedication to their work and should produce desired results. We need to promote PR skills, which is the need of the hour, with the rapidly growing innovative social media technology,” he said.

Presiding over the function, Prof SV Rajashekar Reddy urged the PR professionals and the students in the industry to foster the spirit of oneness and strive hard to bring a radical change in society. “The PR people are the face of the society. They need to mould the opinion and establish a sense of truth and fight for the recognition of Public Relations as the most important tool for any organisation,” he said.
