Holy dip or shower bath?
With only four days left for the Krishna Pushkaralu to take off, the low water levels in the Nagarjunasagar might dash the hopes of many devotees who wish to take a holy dip at the Pushkar Ghats.

Though heavy rains in the upstream and catchment areas of River Krishna helped Srisailam reservoir to raise its water level to 855 feet, the water level at Nagarjunasagar reservoir has so far reached only 505 feet as against 590 feet.
It is learnt that holy dip in Krishna at Ghats constructed in Chandampeta mandal in the district was possible only if water level reaches 570 feet.

According to official information, as on Sunday the inflows to Sagar reservoir was 6,357 cusecs from Srisailam project after power generation. At the same time, the out flow from Sagar was 5,022 cusecs to right canal and 800 cusecs to Sagar Left Bank Canal.
If the outflows and inflows at Nagarjunasagar continue at this pace, then devotees have to satisfy with shower bath instead of holy dip.
Meanwhile, some officials off the record informed that dip at Pushkar Ghats in Nalgonda was possible only if Krishna River Management Board directs officials concerned to maintain the present level of Srisailan dam for four to five days and by releasing all the inflows of Srisialam from Jurala to Sagar reservoir so that the water level reaches the mark of 550 feet.
