Nizamabad: A national tapeworm (nuli purugulu) eradication programme would be organised across the district on Wednesday.

In a press release here on Monday, District Collector Yogitha Rana said that in order to create awareness on the dangers of tape worm on the people’s health, a rally would be flagged off from the district government hospital in the town to the Gandhi Chowk on Tuesday at 9 AM.

She said that children suffering from tapeworms suffer a lot from harmful diseases and their immunity system would become weak. Deworming tablets would be distributed at all the anganwadi centres and schools.

For children below the age of five, deworming tablets would be distributed at the anganwadi centres and for those between the ages of 6 and 19 would be given tablets in their schools.

Later, the District Collector flagged off a Kala Jatha programme to highlight various seasonal diseases like malaria, dengue and viral infections by organising cultural programmes and creating awareness among the people living in villages.

The cultural troops would be divided into two groups and tour four villages every day to educate the people.
