The Banjara Teej committee has organised the Teej festival on a grand note at Clock Tower in the city on Monday.

Explaining about the festival, Ramachandra Naik said that Teej is the festival of young girls, who pray to the revered Seva Lal for their well-being.

They raise wheat saplings in a small bamboo basket, which symbolizes prosperity.

He appreciated the organisers for bringing the festival from thandas to towns. Groups of girls and women danced to Teej song, associated with drum beats, seeking prosperity for the village and the community.

A large number of tribal leaders and youth took part in the event.
