Hyderabad: Minister for Dairy Talasani Srinivas Yadav said target to procure milk has been stepped up to 6 lakh litres a day through Telangana Vijaya Dairy. He also directed officials to set up outlets on national highways and tourist areas.

Reviewing activities of animal husbandry, fisheries and dairy development department with officials here on Monday, he put the sale of milk in twin cities at 3.80 lakh litres a day and advised the officials to give wide publicity to promote Vijaya Dairy products through wall-paintings and posters.

The cabinet sub-committee decided to extend Rs 4 per litre as an incentive to dairy farmers and called for steps to check milk adulteration undertaking joint awareness programmes by food safety, health and animal husbandry departments.

He called for proposals to start a new plant for the government to manufacture anti-rabies and anti-anthrax vaccines in the VBRI laboratory to meet domestic need and to sell the surplus to others.

The Sunandini programme – aimed at supplying cattle feed at 50 % subsidy – should be implemented in a foolproof manner, he said adding that a mobile veterinary clinic will be set up in each assembly constituency.

He asked officials to prepare proposals on supply of fishlings to panchayats on 100 per cent subsidy for releasing them in tanks.
