Congress leader Jagga Reddy is all set to begin an indefinite hunger strike on Wednesday in Sangareddy, Medak district as a protest against the TRS government attitude towards the displaced farmers of villages who have lost their lands in Mallannasagar project.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Jagga Reddy alleged that the TRS government was threatening the farmers from the villages to be submerged in Mallannasagar project and have appealed in High Court even though the Court dismissed the GO No.123.

Demanding the government to terminate the GO No.123, Jagga Reddy instead suggested the government to acquire the land through the Land Acquisition Act-2013, further stating that the construction of projects should not be at the cost of farmers.

While the Congress leader is sticking to his stand on the hunger strike, the police have refused permission for any activity at Sangareddy as Section 30 is being promulgated there and have threatened to arrest anyone who disobeys the orders.
