All the government hospitals in the State are set to get a facelift soon. As part of its efforts to provide quality medical services to the poor, the TRS government has initiated measures on a war-footing to improve basic amenities in government hospitals and strengthen infrastructure. 

Hyderabad: All the government hospitals in the State are set to get a facelift soon. As part of its efforts to provide quality medical services to the poor, the TRS government has initiated measures on a war-footing to improve basic amenities in government hospitals and strengthen infrastructure.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Health Minister C Laxma Reddy are keen on ensuring that all government hospitals in the State are in the pink of health. A fresh coat of paint will be given to all government hospitals to give get a new look. It has been proposed to take up painting of Gandhi Hospital first.

According to sources, Asian Paints has come forward to execute the work. The government hospitals in the State have total bed strength of 17,500. On an average, Rs 6,700 is being spent per month on each bed. Wheelchairs, saline stands, stretchers and other obsolete medical equipment in government hospitals will also be changed as part of the new initiative.

The State government already procured new furniture after finalising tenders. The district, Area and Maternity hospitals, PHCs and community health centres would also get new furniture and equipment soon. According to Medical and Health authorities, 9,626 beds, 9,213 bed lockers, 9,518 saline stands, 9,559 chairs, 1,823 trolley stretchers, 1,355 wheelchairs, 2,383 pediatric beds, 10,903 adult beds and other things were procured. ­
