Warangal: Rich tributes were paid to pioneer of library science in the county, S R Ranganathan across the district on Friday, marking his 124th birth anniversary, which was celebrated as 'Librarians Day'

A programme in the honour of Ranganathan, called as 'Father of Library Science in India' was held at Pingle Government Women’s College in Hanamkonda.

The College Principal, G Indira and its Library Committee members Vijaya Lakshmi, D Radhika, V Krishna Rao and others have offered homage to Ranganathan.

They asked the students to make effective use of the libraries at schools and colleges to excel in their studies.

At a similar event at Kakatiya University, the KU Library Professionals Association general secretary V Krishnamacharya and others have offered floral tributes to Ranganathan and recalled his services to the library sciences in India.

Members of the department of library science B Radhika Rani, S Sujatha Kumari, S Sadanandam and others were present.

At an event at Chaitanya Degree and PG College, the College Principal, K Veera Venkataiaha, Principal of Chaitanya College of Pharmacy Education and Research V Raj Kumar, chief librarian G Rajeshwar Kumar, and staff M Kumara Swamy, P Kavitha, lecturers and students offered homage to Ranganathan.
