Hyderabad: With Nagarjunasagar reservoir receiving copious inflows, denizens can expect uninterrupted water supply through Krishna phase I, II and III for the next one year.

As of now, the city is receiving about 355 mgd (millions gallons per day) of water from Krishna Phase-I, II & III, and Godavari Phase-I projects.

A total 270 mgd of this is received from the projects on Krishna, while 85 mgd is drawn from Yellampally. With inflows into Yellampally reservoir being satisfactory, water board officials have stopped emergency pumping services since July first week.

Citing good inflows at Nagarjunasagar reservoir, water board officials stopped water pumping from the emergency pumping stations on the Krishna basin last week.

With Nagarjunasagar receiving 69,974 cusecs from Srisailam reservoir, the water level has reached 514 ft against its FRL of 590 ft at 6 pm on Sunday. The current water level at the Srisailam reservoir is 874 ft against its FRL of 885 ft.

Speaking to The Hans India, HMWS&SB operations director G Rameshwar Rao said denizens can be assured of uninterrupted water supply for the next one year.

He said inflows from Srisailam reservoir have been encouraging and the water level at Nagarjunasagar could reach its FRL of 590 feet if the current inflows continue in the next 15 days.

However, the inflows into both Osmansagar and Himayatsagar continue to be disappointing. This is despite the above normal rainfall recorded in the catchment areas of the twin reservoirs, including Vikarabad and Chevella of Rangareddy district.
