The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across the district on Monday as national flag was hoisted at various government and private institutions on the day.

​Warangal: The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across the district on Monday as national flag was hoisted at various government and private institutions on the day.

At Kapil House in Hanamkonda, grand celebrations were held marking the Independence Day. Kapil Group president U Krishna Mohan unfurled the national flag and addressed the employees. He asked the employees to work hard for the growth of the company as well as the welfare of the nation.

Director M Aravidham, the group executive director M Satyanarayana Rao, assistant general manager N Ramchander, regional managers and staff of Kapil Chit Funds, Kapil Homes and the staff of HMTV and The Hans India were present.

At Congress Bhavan, the party president N Rajender Reddy hoisted the national flag where former mayor E Swarna and others were present.

At the CPI office in Balasamudram, Hanamkonda, district secretary T Srinivasa Rao hoisted the national flag while at the TRS office, district president T Ravinder Rao unfurled the national flag.

At TSNPDCL corporate office, its CMD K Venkatanarayana hoisted national flag and addressed employees. 57 Assistant Engineers were recruited as against 164 notified and 767 contact junior linemen were being regularised. 1,49,617 saplings were planted in five districts so far under Haritha Haram, he said.

TSRTC regional manager GSS Suresh, officials G Ramulu, M Chandraiah, union leaders ES Babu, Venkanna, Yakaswamy Rajaiah took part in Independence Day celebrations.

Awards presented to employees P Veera Reddy, K Yakub Reddy, V Bixapathi, Md Sarwar, B Ashok, SV Bhasker Rao and Dasari Sarvesham for their services.

At Kakatiya University, Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna, hoisted the national flag and released newsletter ‘Vivechana’. He asked the teaching and non-teaching staff to improve academic standards at the university. At KU SDLCE, its director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar hoisted the national flag.

At NIT Warangal, Director Prof RV Chalam unfurled the national flag and said there were 43 R&D projects worth about Rs 12.94 crores funded by sponsoring agencies like DST, DRDO, CSIR and UGC going on at the institute
