ā€‹Hyderabad: Doctors, especially paediatricians, are reporting a rise in viral fever cases among children between the age of 8 and 14 in the last 10 days and blame seasonal changes and the presence of the nip in the air for the rise in cases.

Dr Lekha, a paediatrician said, “Most patients are complaining about nausea combined with vomiting. Taking food from eateries on the streets can be dangerous and one needs to be cautious.” Dr Deshpande, a paediatrician said, “Change in the weather is one of the reasons and children with poor immunity are more vulnerable.

Out of the 15-odd patients that I treat daily, at least six or seven complain of weakness, body ache and diarrhoea.” In most of the private clinics, it is the children from slums that are the most affected, say doctors.

A doctor from Addagutta says that proper hand hygiene can bring down infections considerably. He further adds that there was no need to panic as such but precautions need to be taken to keep the menace under control.
