Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has challenged the Congress leadership to come for an open debate on Telangana government’s agreement with Maharashtra on sharing River Godavari waters.

He ridiculed the protests staged by Congress leaders against signing of agreement by the two States. Speaking to the media in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, Kadiyam Srihari said, “Today is red-letter day in the history of Telangana.

With the pact, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is trying to make full use of Godavari River water allocated to Telangana and clear hurdles for the irrigation projects taken up by the State.”

For the past 58 years, Telangana was not able to use its share of water due to inter-state disputes. The State got a right to use 950 tmc ft water from Godavari but not even 100 tmc ft water could not be utilised so far, he said and added that there would be no ater shortage now.
